DOE Secretary Garin Leads Groundbreaking of 62MWp Solar Plant in Iloilo

Ajuy, Iloilo—Department of Energy (DOE) SecretarySharon Garin led the groundbreaking ceremony and time capsule laying of the62-megawatt peak (MWp) Ajuy 1 Solar Power Project in Ajuy, Iloilo, on July 11, 2025. The62MWp Ajuy 1 Solar Power Project is part of Jin Navitas Solaris Inc.’s(SOLARIS) EARTHLIGHT* brand, the company’s growing portfolio of ground-mounted solar projects.

The 47.86-hectare project marks the company’s first major ground-mounted solar installation in the province, bringing the company a step closer to its goal of reaching 1 gigawatt of renewable capacity by 2028. 

“This project supports our push to increase renewable energy capacity and improve energy access in the regions,” Secretary Garin said. 

Once operational in 2026, the Ajuy 1 Solar PowerProject is expected to generate 94.32 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually—enough to power more than 25,000 households and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 66,000 metric tons per year. 
The solar power project's output will also further strengthen Jin Navitas ElectricCorporation's (JNEC) renewable energy portfolio for contestable customers under the Retail Competition Open Access. JNEC is SOLARIS' retail electricity supplier affiliate.
